John Mayer Announces Exclusive April 2027 Sphere Residency Featuring Three-Act Show Structure

Singer-songwriter and guitar virtuoso John Mayer has officially announced a standalone six-date residency at Sphere in Las Vegas, scheduled across two weekends in April 2027.

The residency, taking place on April 8, 10, 11, 15, 17, and 18, 2027, marks Mayer’s return to the venue under his own name following his 48-show stint as co-headliner and creative director with Dead & Company.  

A Three-Act Career Retrospective Built for Spatial Audio

Designed specifically to take advantage of Sphere’s 160,000-square-foot interior LED display and 168,000-speaker beamforming audio system, each performance will be structured into three distinct performance configurations:  

• Act I: Acoustic Solo Performance: Mayer opens each evening solo, utilizing acoustic guitars and piano to deliver stripped-back renditions of his catalog classics.  
• Act II: The John Mayer Trio Reunion: The middle set reunites Mayer with bassist Pino Palladino and drummer Steve Jordan as the John Mayer Trio. The performances mark the power trio’s first dedicated residency set since their landmark 2005 live album TRY! and 2017 touring appearances.  
• Act III: Full Electric Band: The final section brings Mayer’s full touring band back to the stage for expanded arrangements, heavy visual production, and electric guitar solos.

Philanthropic Partnerships and Ticketing Mechanics

Beyond the production footprint, the residency incorporates direct charitable initiatives tied to Mayer's ongoing non-profit work.  

One dollar from every ticket sold will benefit Mayer’s Back to You Fund, which supports youth empowerment and education programs. Additionally, a select allocation of prime tickets for all six performances will be auctioned off via Charity Auctions Today, with 100% of proceeds funding the Heart and Armor Foundation, the veterans' health organization Mayer established in 2012.

"Experiencing the Trio’s dynamic range alongside solo acoustic work inside an environment like Sphere creates a completely unique canvas."

Presales for the April 2027 residency begin in October 2026 across artist, SiriusXM, and venue channels ahead of the general public on-sale.
