Global pop superstar Ariana Grande has addressed fans directly regarding her decision to step back from public-facing work following the conclusion of The Eternal Sunshine Tour, emphasizing that the upcoming hiatus is a long-planned, intentional choice rooted in personal boundaries.
Speaking from the stage at the United Center in Chicago during the first of three sold-out arena shows, the 33-year-old singer paused her performance to address public speculation surrounding the announcement.

Reading from personal notes to ensure total clarity, Grande assured the audience that her upcoming exit from visibility was not a sudden reaction to media noise, but rather a boundary she had established well in advance.
"The announcement that was made was not a reactive or impulsive thing," Grande told the crowd. "It is something that I had decided to plan quietly, a long time ago, from a thoughtful and empowered place."
Acknowledging fan concerns regarding ongoing public scrutiny, Grande clarified her perspective on setting healthy personal limits while maintaining her love for live performance:
"I heard that my fans were worried that negativity was ruining things for me, but I just have to say that could not be more the opposite. Multiple things can be true at the same time. Withdrawing from West End Debut and Future Commitments
The clarification follows an official statement issued by Grande's representatives confirming that the artist will take an extended break from public life once The Eternal Sunshine Tour wraps its final dates on September 1 at London's O2 Arena.
As part of the hiatus, Grande has formally withdrawn from her planned West End stage debut in Stephen Sondheim's Sunday in the Park with George. The production, which was set to open at London's Barbican Centre in summer 2027 alongside her Wicked co-star Jonathan Bailey, will proceed with her role being recast.
