Apple has officially opened the doors to Apple Music Hall, a 600-capacity live music venue and high-tech production facility located inside London’s historic Battersea Power Station.
The custom-built venue establishes a direct bridge between intimate live performance and immediate streaming content creation. Equipped with immersive audio systems and automated broadcast infrastructure, the venue allows artists to perform intimate showcases while capturing multi-track spatial recordings and broadcast video in real time.
Arena-Grade Production Hardwired for Spatial Audio
Designed inside Battersea’s restored industrial interior, the venue merges heritage architecture with top-tier audio and visual engineering. Built for rapid deployment across streaming, video, and live radio, key technical specifications include:
- 3D Spatial Acoustics: The room features an array of 48 speakers positioned around the audience floor and bronze balconies, allowing live sets to be mixed and experienced in Dolby Atmos-supported Spatial Audio.
- Modular Stage and Broadcast Architecture: A 38-foot modular stage supports both standard end-stage setups and in-the-round configurations. The venue is hardwired with 16 hardwired camera rigs feeding a purpose-built broadcast control room.
- Turnkey Multi-Track Recording: Behind the stage, two dedicated studio mix suites allow artists to perform a set and immediately exit with a finished multitrack Spatial Audio mix and a broadcast-ready multi-camera video feed.
Unifying Live Operations Under One Roof
The opening of Apple Music Hall coincides with the relocation of Apple Music Radio’s London broadcast operations into Battersea Power Station. By co-locating live performance space, radio broadcast suites, and global streaming infrastructure within its European headquarters complex, the platform streamlines artist press junkets, album release underplays, and direct-to-platform content pipelines.
"At Apple Music, we're always looking for new opportunities to connect artists and fans," said Zane Lowe, Apple Music’s Global Creative Director. "Apple Music Hall lets us capture amazing live moments in a physical space and instantly share those high-fidelity experiences with a global audience."
With global livestreams scheduled for future underplay shows and special album launches, Apple Music Hall establishes a permanent physical node for the platform's live content strategy.
